Here are some basic tips on using the SDSF interface, updated and reprinted from ispf4users.blogspot.com by permission. This IBM utility provides z/OS system equivalents of Windows Task Manager and Printers, or UNIX/Linux ps, top, jobs, lpstat, and lpadmin. Monitor processes in z/OS and z/OS UNIX System Services; manipulate JES input and output queues; issue operator commands, and more.

Suppressing the EDIT/VIEW Entry Panel in DSLIST (data set list)

A Data set list, created using ISPF option 3.4 or the DSLIST command, has its own settings. The EDIT/VIEW entry panel setting is particularly helpful. This post shows how to access DSLIST settings, suppress the EDIT/VIEW entry panel, and how to access the panel options when needed.

Block commands on the DSLIST screen.

ISPF Line Commands and TSO commands that reference data set names may be "blocked" on a data set list screen generated by the DSLIST command or option 3.4. This simplifies issuing commands against multiple, consecutive data sets.

ISPF SearchFor and Compare

ISPF Search For (options 3.14 and 3.15) is a function of the program SUPERC which is also a compare utility (options 3.12 and 3.13). These utilities can be invoked directly from a data set list (DSLIST or 3.4) using line and primary commands.
